Here is my highly scientific paint experiment, using only the most precise measurements on paint fade and durability, in a totally unyielding environment, complying with all Department of Defense guidelines, hence producing the listed outcome below (I painted parts and left them outside):
03 October 2008

29 January 2009

Looks like the paint is holding up fine. There was some concern about the fade resistance but it looks good to me. I didn't paint the edges so the rust you see is just bleed over. Plus the car will be kept in the garage anyway.
That's it for now......Last edited by KAILUAZ; 01-29-2009 at 05:35 PM.

if they do fade out a little, you can always rub a little wd-40 on there and bring it back out.

Picked up a MM strut tower brace for cheap. Its for a EFI engine which spreads it out a bit more and I should be able to make it work with the 460.

Swapped to a fiberglass hood, thanks Frankf! This should get rid of any hood clearance issues I was going to run into.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
I'm out of the project for a while, we had a water pipe break under the house. Tried in front of the kitchen cabinets, but of course it has to be under the F'n cabinets. So they are ripped out now and more holes to dig. $$$$ Ugggggg!!

Yeah so the leak detector guy said it was under the cabinets,, which I tore out for the plumber. Plumber came back and broke a new hole and guess what,,,,, no pipe.
Leak guy came back out and found the leak in the bathroom.
So now I have three friggen holes in the floor, a ripped out kitchen cabinet, and two broken tiles!! Mother^&@#^@!!!!!
At least the leak is fixed and I can take a shower now

Speaking of plumbing, I'll post all this info over here:
I'm thinking of running the radiator in the trunk area to get some weight off the front end. Rob aka Blacksheep-1 suggested it and I've been looking into the idea.
Seems there are some Mustangs that run this setup. Most of them are drag cars with huge turbos up front. There are a few auto-x and road race cars also,, but like most everything on this project I'm stepping into uncharted territory.
The big question is what type of hard line tubing to use. Some have used aluminum, some 1.5" exhaust pipe. There is some talk about using CPVC but I'm not sure how the joints would hold up with the vibration.

Hey Eric, not sure about plastic tubing..By the time you put in place all the piping in place throughout the car how much weight you saving? You know I'm all for doing your own thing but having hot water traveling next to you could be a little scary...Not trying to discourage you bro..Also what kinda waterpump does it take to move the water that far through the system?
I'm sure somebody out there has the answers.....Peace out BroTalk softly but Drive a big block

I figure I can take about 25 pounds off the front end if the radiator is in the rear. The car will be all stripped out so the extra weight over all isn't too concerning.
Running the pipes would be the biggest hurdle. The best bet would be to run them outside the drivers compartment, but I'm not sure if that's possible/feasible.
As you can see in the pics below of the one Mustang, I'm not sure I would want the pipes running straight across.
Some pics to check out:
