    need some help on a d16z6 1.6 vtec build. idle, and valve slap.

    so my stock d16z6 vtec blew a rod and i baught a fresh build d16z6 wich has the following mods. je high comp pistions egal rods gurdle aroung the pistion sleeves freshly machened head w stage 2 cam & new valve springs headders w/ o2 sensor located near the cat. it was sitting in a eg w/ obdo ecu and ran like a champ before i baught the engine. bolted it up swapped with my intake maini with all the obd1 sensors / injectors. starts right up every time. once it heats up the idle flucuated and bounces till it stalls, EXCEPT if i have the a/c switch on it will idle perfectly. second issue is that the valve train sounds horrable. it rattles really bad upon accel and deccleration. ive done a valve lash ajustment 4 times making it tighter by .001 mm every ajustment and still get the noise. thinking i might just swap with stock cam but i wanted input form you guys first. lastly i have no visable leaks yet white smoke is light/ moderate from the rear of the engine when it wasnt in the eg. maybe new head gasket? my ecu is a virgin p28, would a socket chip n tune fix my issues or is it more mecanical. i already cleaned and ajusted the TB sensors and the stock motor ran strong b4 the rod shattered. thanks for your help and knowledge.

    you need a chipped ecu and tune if its high compression. its cant adjust the a/f ratio properly probably. And for the valvetrain, look up what the company specs are for clearance. maybe you have them to tight and you hear it tapping the piston.
    Is it throwing any codes?

    no codes are being showen. im going to have to take the cam out and research the company whom made it as i dont know its maker.
