92 camry wont start

my moms car been sittin in my backyard for 5 months without bein used at all.. my g/fs car broke and so my mom decided to let her drive the car .... it has 130k miles but it was good before ... we started it yesterday ( by jumpin it ) And then after a coupes of minutes it died since we knew it didnt have gas we thought that was the reason and left it alone... today we put some gas in it ... and no matter what we do it cranks but wont start at all... just got some new wires and sparkplugs ,also an distribuitor cap and still wont start ... can anybody give me some ideas of what might be wrong....thanks a lot guys ....

maybe trash in the fuel filter from sucking all the crappy gas off the bottom of the tank, take off a small vaccuum line and stick the end in a cup full of gas,the engine vaccuum will suck the gas into the engine and if everything else is ok(ignition, comression, timing)it will run,if it does run you have fuel problems....that should be enough to get you started in the right direction

Check fuses just incase. Test light should only run ya like 4 bucks at your auto parts store.

thanks a lot guys , uhmm what was wrong with it was the distributor but has already been replaced , the car is runnin a lil rough but it has to be cuz of that nasty fuel as u guys mentioned... it also smokes a beat but i might end up gettin some anti-smoke today ... thanks a lot .... peace

the smoke is most likely caused from the bad fuel thatt was sitting for so long. unless its thick white smoke which is caused by oil and is most likely a bad head gasket.

thick white smoke is caused by coolant do to a blown head or intake gasket, or crack in the head or block causing coolant to get burned. Oil smokes blue. but if you just replaced the distributor in a camry which im gonna guess is a 2.2 you HAVE to reset the timing that may be why it runs rough. If it were the has it would smoke black. Now i dont know wut anti-smoke stuff you are talking about but it probably only does more damage then good.

my vote= oil rings are gone...if it constanly smokes and you are not overheating or getting pressure in your hoses or losing coolant...

im takin it to the shop again since it died yest while mah mom was drivin it , then i crank it till it started and died on its way home ( while smokin like crazy ) ... damn car is causin too much trouble .... i ma see what mah mechanic has to say ....

dmxplayainc21 06-26-2007 06:54 AM

it cranks but it wont start just like it did b4 they replaced the distributor but i dunno what it is now ....

82RollaSR5 06-26-2007 01:41 PM

probably a blown headgasket ill give you 200 bucks for it if decide to sell it

dmxplayainc21 06-26-2007 03:08 PM

lol.. yea rite ....

dmxplayainc21 06-29-2007 07:28 AM

sparkplugs got replaced b4 but he said they were fouled ( dry /black color) so he did replace them again and car started right away ... today i tried starting the car again and it didnt .....check the plugs and they are fouled again... my friend said it could be the air filter needin to be replaced ....

that of tons of other things like broken injectors, wrong heat range plugs, loss of spark, bad sensors, computer.
