Beautiful car but miles away from a true GT-500.

Please explain! I would like to know the diff between this and a true one. The car looks amazing! I would prob pay to drive that thing around the block just so i can feel what its like. One of my all time favorite cars. It's obviously a restore, but the ? is....is it a true GT500 or a fastback converted? either way, beautiful car! |

When I saw this car in the shop, it truly amazed me - and thats pretty difficult to do. Car is an absolute work of art. |

Missed ths one by a few weeks :) Nice looking car. I do know a few things about these ;)
First, unless someone took an original GT500, then modified it with the Eleanor setup (which I guess is possible but would trash the value on a real Shelby), this is probably not in the Shelby Registry. AFAIK, the only Eleanor cars that were entered into the registry are the ones built by the now bankrupt Unique Performance. Those cars can be identified by their TCP suspension and the "GT500E" label on the side of the car. That said - this is one of the best eleanor conversions that I've seen. Whoever did this did a great job. |

Here's his car showing the restoration they did. They obviously did a great job - but they also built it to sell it. No mustang shop wanting to turn a profit on a car is going to put the effort into turning a real shelby into an eleanor..as opposed to restoring it as a real shelby.. (I say that, but I think unique did it for Jerry Bruckheimer)
Mustangs to Fear I hope they didn't tell him that it was a Shelby in order to get him to buy it. Might be best not to say anything to him at this point. |
