Dslr Cameras Banned in Kuwait
The Kuwait Times, Gizmodo and Engadget have reported that the government of Kuwait has outlawed DSLR cameras.
“The Ministries of Information, Social Affairs and Finance (hello, 1984!) have collectively decided to ban the use of the chunky shooters in public places, except where it can be shown that it’s for journalistic purposes.” – Engadget. This ban reportedly affects tourists too, so if you’re headed to Kuwait for some relaxing time over the holidays, come prepared. I understand that compacts and camera phones have not been banned, so you can still get the shot…-ish.I’ve read all I can on the topic this morning, but for the life of me I’m having trouble understanding. Why they hatin’ on the interchangable lenses? What about micro 4/3? Can anybody out there shed some light on this bizarre state of affairs for me? ------------ Cite Chase Jarvis Blog Original link - Kuwait Bans DSLR Cameras | Chase Jarvis Blog |
They are just helping you keep sand out of your equipment...
There must be nothing to see in Kuwait anyways.. |

I read something about this earlier today and the first thing I thought to myself was "Where the fuck is Kuwait?" Maybe it's just a ploy to get more tourists, you know the whole "there's no such thing as bad publicity" thing.

not like i'm going there but i still want to know why, hope other places dont do it too. needs a reason though.

Many places are skeptical of "big cameras" or Dslrs. They think they are used to take high detailed photographs for terrorism. I'm not sure about you guys but if I was some undercover terrorist, the last thing I would use is a big attention grabbing camera. That may just be me though.

proof that no matter what country it is, bureaucracy is full of morons
