Red face building a turbo car

hey guys i just wanted to ask when building a turbo car what is the general hp per psi. i have seen alot of people get alot of hp with not that much boast(675 at 18psi for an example) so what would be a goal for me to shoot for for under 20 psi. is it all in the set up or is it fuel u know i'm just amazed how people r cranking out mass hp and still staying in the mid to some what high boast range.

(675 at 18psi for an example)
were did u get that example from?
n its not only boost tthat gives u all that power...im surre to get those types of numbers alot of engine work was done...
build motor...than boost
start small than go big.

its not about PSI, it's about turbo size and engine size.

i checked out the vid so that helps a lil but y for hondas do u need so much boast for hp but like 240s supras skylines they create more power with not as much boast. is it the displacement and what does that do for an engine of those types ? and can u do the same to hondas? displacement that is.

Generally you see those types of vehicles run bigger turbos (Which have increased flow at lower boost numbers due to shear size, etc...) so they only run lower numbers to achieve what they want. Its like comparing a Big Mitsu 16G to a Holset Hx35 (H1C)... There is none! At about 13.5 psi it can put decently flowing engines into 300's while at 24 lbs the 16G is tapping out around 325-350 hp... Simply its sure volume the turbos can move.

Before you build anything I suggest reading MAXIMUM BOOST by Corkey Bell. Very imformative! Also pick some of the Turbo gurus brains a bit. And btw the reason you see such great numbers out of K/B series is due to them being Over square (Bore is bigger then Stroke) and there head flows are awesome. Power really is in how the Engines Volumetric Effeceincy (How well engine breathes.)

I know motors that make 1100 rwhp on 11 psi and others that make 220 at 20. Lots of factors are involved.
