RESULTS: SWAPPING MANIFOLD = ~68.3 whp peak gain before tuning, ~48 whp after tuning, ~49.7 ft/lb before tuning, ~44 ft/lb after tuning

We recently conducted a complete test detailing every possible aspect of the manifold experiment. Using a Stock GSR bottom end, with a JG intake manifold and Full Race Stage 3 turbo kit with 10 psi wastegate spring, no boost controller connected.

Full Race fabricated a traditional log manifold which placed the tubine flange and turbo in the EXACT SAME spot as our ProStreet manifolds. The purpose of this is that we were able to swap manifolds without even having to pull the turbo off of the car. As a result, we used EVERYTHING the same, except for the manifold. same turbo, same wastegate, same downpipe, same exhaust, same intercooler, same oil lines, same EVERYTHING.

We videotaped the test for anyone who needs to see it. Time lapse, done by evan (eluder200k). This video is taken for 1 second every 30 seconds. For anyone who doubts us, we will be happy to post the video.

The results were quite astonishing, but do make a lot of sense. The log manifold spooled the turbo about 250-300 rpm SOONER than the equal length. From ~4700 rpm on the log manifold couldnt even come close.

yeah i saw this on H-T and was astonished! i had a really well known welder fabricator tell me that equal length is bullshit and that it doesnt matter but i slipped this article onto his desk and he was in disbelief for a while till his red neck ass found out why it worked, damn i need a new manifold

For a while I didnt think equal length manifolds would net much gains at all if any (yeah, yeah). I talked to Geoff from Full Race on the phone at work for a little while and I was very interested in equal length designs. After that I realized what kind of performance gains equal length manifolds could give you. Scott/Enthalpy is a good example.

I didn't think it would be that much on that motor, but I knew it there was a difference. But that is one hella ugly manifold, lol.

Considering that is one of their first/prototype equal length manifolds it looks good That manifold is more than a couple years old.

I'm just messing with you. Just to me those loops are ugly man. I'm used to rx7's equal length manifolds which don't look like those since the exhaust ports are on the passenger side. Great idea/execution, just not fond of the loops up there. Thats only visual though, so it doesn't really matter

I figured you were but who knows on the internet I should of mentioned this test was done on one of their old prototype exhaust manifolds. I wouldnt doubt they have done one or two (maybe more) for an RX-7.

What is an exhaust manifold without visual bling, lol

I'm confused here. Is this a typo or did they loose power when they tuned the car on the equal lengths? Please clarify.....

That was still over the log manifold. This could be due to heat soak, less timing, richer air to fuel, etc. If you would like I can find out for sure?
