They require a license? Are they bonded? I would advise anyone looking into working security for private companies to make sure all their ducks are in a row before workign for an individual. Most places think they can just hire security and then when somethign goes down you're up the creek without a paddle gettign sued.

To preform a real "security" job in this state you need a d license or a g license if it's armed. Chp. 493 FL state statutes. And since you had to ask what bonded meant I am going to assume this is not a legit security job but rather a glorified "security" position that's just a desk clerk at night.
I feel for people struggling that take these jobs. One mistake and you are the one in legal trouble because you aren't licensed.

Not technically in trouble. 1: they don't have to follow the Florida Statue for security. 2. They don't fit under the guidelines for security. They're not Security D or G(Unarmed or Armed) Therefore they are not allowed to carry anything other than a flashlight IIRC while on the job. They cannot carry a weapon of any sort IIRC. If they do something the company will be held responsible not the employee. Whoever gets this job will most likely get a standard pay check not a 1099-MISC form. I would ask if you would get a 1099-misc form or are supplying any sort of Independent contracting work then you could be held responsible bc you would be your own business in a sense.

I've trained quite a few guys who worked at places like this and they were expected to do things that would require you to need a license and be working within the requirements of the law. It's a way for businesses to cut corners. It's happening out at the beaches a lot, you're a bellman but they use you as security. The more I meet new clients the more I see that these guys making $8-9 an hour are being set up for failure. Takes the wrong move to an asshole who knows the law and you are the one in cuffs.
I got hired for a private company who needed a guard to watch the businesses doors, they were a "pain clinic" I found out later. They weren't bonded, they had no insurance and wanted to make me work as a contractor. You can not provide work as a contract laborer.
Straight from the department of licensing:
A security officer is any individual or business who, for consideration, advertises as or is engaged in the business of furnishing security services described below. The individuals and agencies are required to be licensed:
Acts as a bodyguard
Guards property
Transports prisoners
Guards armored cars
Attempts to prevent theft, misappropriation or concealment of property or other valuables
Seeks the return of such stolen valuables
Leaves a lot of grey area.
