AT&T trying to sue Verizon
AT&T sues Verizon over 'there's a map for that' ads
This is amusing.
Basically a breakdown of AT&T's claims and why they are all bullshit.
Editorial: Hey, AT&T -- drop lawsuits, not calls
Interesting read about coverage and everything between the 2 services.

Verizon FTW. The iPhone is nice but I had AT&T... coverage and service sucks! When you have to go outside to make a phone call... thats shitty. I switched to Verizon and I'm staying. I think its funny because its 3G coverage they are showing. I dont see any wrong, if viewers are confused and think the other competitor sucks, well thats good advertising.

Yea, I mean monopolies are great, just like the game, right?
Thats a pretty dumb statement you just made. While I agree that commenting on a competitors commercial is immature and unappealing to customers, I think that a company turning into a monopoly is something to whine about. That is, unless you are willing to pay out that ass for your mobile phone, something that is basically a necessity this day and age.
On this topic, JonLGT is correct. Both overcharge for shit and are dishonest in their ads. And keep in mind, AT&T has had dozens of commercials out since the beginning of the company, I'm willing to bet they've mislead some customers on Verizons services.

The thing is though, is that Verizon isn't misleading anyone. They are simply showing the 3G coverage of AT&T in comparison to theirs. Verizon acquiring T-Mobile wouldn't really be a monopoly, but AT&T would bitch because then Verizon would have even greater access to phones. That's probably the only thing lacking on Verizon, and they have been much better on that front lately.

At first I was horribly pissed that verizon swallowed up alltel, which I have and have loved since 2005 or earlier...but really, my plan is the same (no contract since 05) and I got to keep my discounts...I can now call a shitload more people for free, making mycircle almost useless, and I have had no change in service area if not even faster and better signals. Also the phone ive been waiting or for months released on verizon for 100 cheaper than everyone else, and even though the plans make the phone more expensive in the long run...I get to keep my nice cheap smartphone plan from alltel so im set!

I understand, I mean, if you go turn on your TV, EVERY company is doing this, comparing themselves to their competitors while giving themselves the advantage. Its part of advertising, they aren't going to say "Well our competitor is just as good as us, so use us!"
I agree, AT&T is a shitty service anyways, and they're trying to fix something thats already been done, which seems retarded.

Agreed. ATT will likely swallow up tmobile if anything, which is similar in size and coverage to alltel. I think sprint is too big to be taken on by anyone as of yet.

I think most of you guys are missing the point. AT&T is simply complaining about Verizon misleading consumers into thinking that they have no coverage beyond the blue map that they display. Most consumers don't know what 3g is. They aren't aware that they will still have coverage out outside of the 3g areas by the 2g or edge network. I can see AT&T's POV that Verizon is misleading some customers into thinking that they will have more holes in their coverage if they go with AT&T according to the "3G" map.
