Didn't they say the last stimulus package we got last year like 80% of the people spent it at wal-mart ? Seems as wal-mart got the bigger straw and rest of the companies got the smaller straw.
I know my stimulus and my girls went to help paying bills , help with the gas when it was about $4.00/gal and that was it. Didn't really go into the economy to help it.

I never thought I would see so many people complaining over free money from the government. Feel free to deposit all of your stimulus packages to my bank account, I need a new TV.

Nothing is free. where do you think this money is coming from? your taxes and when this doesn't work again your taxes will go up to pay it back.
If they do things to create jobs, people will have money to spend again and then the economy will pick back. In order to repair the economy you have to think long term and be willing to wait for things to work not just throw bandaids on it and hope it stops bleeding.eric.

^Thank you!
I am a winner, not because I'm rich....which I am definately NOT...but because I have NO DEBT short of my car insurance and cell phone bill.....It's people like me that get screwed for being fiscally responsible and then getting MY tax money taken to bail out those that don't know how to balance their own budget....and if I do...I will!

I don't understand what you mean ?!??!?!?!?!?!
I have a little under 4k in credit card debt and no1 is paying that except me !!. I make my payments on time and give way more then the minimum. Every time I get my statement nowhere does it say. Paid by You or anyone else?!?!?!?!?! Having no debt doesn't make you more fiscally responsible or better then people who have debt.
Please help me understand your comment.Last edited by CoRDiTe; 01-26-2009 at 06:18 PM.

Cordite, I was simply replying to maskedman58 getting pissed because I said that there has to be losers for a system based on winners AND losers to actually work.
Don't hate me ...I didn't create the system.Last edited by burgy240; 01-26-2009 at 10:48 PM.

IMO this isnt going to do any more than the last one did. However, if they are gonna hand it out, I wont say no.
After all my years of working, paying taxes, etc Im kinda glad at least Im getting a handout, not some 3rd generation welfare bunny.

^The Stimulus package money comes straight from our tax money.
More importantly, for every band aid the Government tries to use the Longer the recession continues because they are not allowing free markets to operate properly. We need the lows to balance out the highs.
quick example, home prices in the Bay area went up more than 4x in some places yet the average wage in the bay area has stayed almost the same in that time period. So how do you afford a house that costs that much if you don't make more $??? also, the percentage of your total income that is supposed to be dedicated to a house payment should be less than 30% but people were getting ARM loans where the debt was as much as 50% or more of their total income... So I'm supposed to shell out more taxes to bail out someone that doesn't understand what an ARM loan is and still took it anyway???? and I'm supposed to pay more taxes to bail out someone that committed almost half of their income to a house payment???
When it comes to the specific topic mentioned in this thread, giving money to the people won't fix our economy, just create more debt. Giving it to the Banks doesn't work because they just hold it to close the gap between the FDIC's requirements for reserves on bad debt and the # of loans that they have in preforeclosure and foreclosure... So if they just keep it, they aren't lending it to people creating new businesses and new jobs.Last edited by burgy240; 01-27-2009 at 10:01 AM.
