A couple of things that need to be highlighted... Yes, the banks gave bad mortgages, but letting them suffer, will only hurt the rest of us. The banks will stop lending money, and that will not be good. For starters, lots of big companies work on very little cash at any given time. They take out short term loans (against accounts receivables) for things like, oh, payroll. Sure, this isn't the best way to do things, but it happens all the time. When those companies can't borrow this money, because the banks are broke, then workers don't get paid. This does not just involve the banks, and their shareholders. Two, this is not really a 'bailout'. The government will buy the bad debt, at very reduced rates, and then sell them later, most likely for a profit. Yes, the banks could do that themselves, but they don't have the money to wait around...the federal government does. Toby Last edited by TJElite : 09-29-2008 at 06:17 PM. |

300m americans, 75% over 18 = 225,000,000 million people 700B dollars, thats 700,000,000,000 You can either copy and paste 700000000000/225000000 into google, or go back to 8th grade math. 7/225=.0311111. Since 700B is 7 with 11 zeros, and 225m is 225 with 6 zeros, you need to move the decimal 5 places to the right (11 zeros - 6 zeros) which gives you $3111.11 Again, nice, but not enough to make a difference, unless the money is targeted...like 700b to buy bad mortgage debt. God Bless America. Yea, where's your God now? Fuckin Bible thumpers are even starting to question shit, hah. Funny thing is a common misconception and twist of words is that of Christians believing the God mentioned on our currency is the God of the Bible, when in fact, its a Deist God.

I never did the math on the 700B to everyone, I figured it would probably be atleat 10k.. But even so, the average household has 2 people so 6k in my pocket would feel pretty fucking good, pay off all credit card dept and get a mtg payment or 2 in there. I wouldnt think its worth it though, I suck at math

Of those 300 million "Americans", how many are LEGAL? Let the illegals go home. Quit hemoraging billions of dollars to the helpless in other countries. Make one more large troop surge in Iraq (around 500,000 troops) and then pull out within 4-6 months. At that time, the situation will have changed. Why? because we wouldn't be hemoraging money out to Iraq anymore. I'm not saying pull them all out right this moment. I know that we need to make sure they have their own security and such, but they need to know that we are done supporting them. They are getting fat off our tits, and it needs to stop. I don't support a timeline for pullout so to speak, but they need to know that we are done giving them money. If they want to pay for our troops to stay there, then great....If not, then I say we drop them like a hot rock. Lock, stock, and barrel...Out...Suddenly. If we pull out slowly, then we put our own troops in danger. As for the bail out...poor loan practices lead to what we are experiencing now. And if the gooberment bails them out now, then they continue to do it because...Well...afterall, the gooberment will just bail them out.

I think that they will eventually pass the bail out. Right now, they are just posturing. Its that crap that makes me want to vote all politicians out, and start over.
You'll still have foreclosures, and that's just the way it is. Lots of people facing foreclosure now, though, will be able to pay off their mortgages, under new terms. If this bailout doesn't pass, though, things could get very ugly. As for the resident Atheist...my god still looks out for me. I've never been promised anything but help through tough times, and been granted that repeatedly. Toby |
