there wouldn't be a switch. theres just the analog which is the blue connector and the composite connector which is the long white one pending on which connector you plug in will determine if it displays in analog or digital. also sadly there isn't a way to tell if the MB or chip is fried. the thing that makes me think that is even if your card was hammered you'd still get a bios beep and sound just no video. on another note its about 1:30am im tired as hell if you need anymore help just let me know but for now im going to bed peace

you can't put thermal paste on like that. your chip is fried from the thermal paste. what chip is that. i believe i have a xp1600 and a xp2000 chip sitting around.

Its an AMD i dunno what socket but i can get that information tmrw. yea an i wasnt the one who smudged that on there like that... lol dont let friends work on ur computer while ur at work... atleast it was a pretty crappy processor anyway.. this desktop has about the power of ur high end laptop minus a dual core as of now. if u do have another AMD processor laying around u arent using that i could have ill pick it up =D an love u forever, NO HOMO.

Processor is burnt. more than likely from static, laying the proc on carpet etc. Or just from touching it. But actually it could be either card as well. Had a friend with the same condition and his ati x1900xtx blew, along with his mobo at the same time. Only after trying 3 cards and 2 motherboards did we find out it was BOTH. Another friend had his heatsink pop off and the chip pretty much instanly fried. Heard the *ping* of the clip and 2 sec later it was toast. Again. same symptoms. If the processor worked AT ALL, you would get error code beeps for either the memory, the video card. ANYTHING. also your hard drive will spin up whether its hooked up or not. Justp utting power to it will let it spin, but it wont seek.

Also. Amd processors are cheap as dirt right now. For like a 5000+x2 is 87 bucks on newegg.

Anyway amd xp's are known for frying my cousin owned a PC store for a spell before a series of bad choices led to bankrupt see. Anyway point aside xps like to fry we had about 3 systems a day come in with amd xps in them that were toast the chips just suck. on a different note if your going with an am2 or more commonly known as an dual core. keep in mind that amd chips still have heat issues thats why a 5500+ amd 2 each core is only rated at about 2.9ghz you can overclock just if you do spare no expense for a heat sink and fan and i mean literally buy the best one your local PC store offers you will be glad you did.

Did you try turning the monitor on?
j/k. My mobo was blessed with a temperature failsafe, so I've yet to be able to fry my cpu
You can probbably pick up a new mobo pretty cheap too.
