Thinking About A New Lense

I'm thinking about getting a new lense for my Nikon D3000. I was looking to get some ideas from the pros on some not too expensive lenses that are decent. I mainly do automotive photography but I do some portrait pictures as well.

Find a used Nikkor 28-80 3.3-5.6G lens. Has a good range and is surprising sharp for the price. Also a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 is a must have for any photographer.

35mm 1.8 is the only lens i use at cars and coffee. i have a 35mm & 50mm, out of the two i use the 35mm more.
