Does this bother you guys at all?
I know I'm just being critical of other people, and I remember how excited I was to get a new lens for my camera, but now that I've had quite some time shooting, this frustrates me. I guess it's one thing if you know you want a zoom lens, and you go and buy say a 600mm
. However, it drives me nuts if you buy a Macro lens, and you don't even know why you are buying it, other than "Someone said it was a good lens."
I've found so much of photography is actually about reading and learning before actually taking pictures. I am much more "in-tune" with what I will need to do before I do a shoot or bring my camera somewhere. I already have an idea of what I would like to do, or an angle I'd like to get. Not just go into it blindly. I think this applies for lenses as well.
Anyway, I figured this would be a good topic of conversation. Discuss.
Btw he's talking about an actual ball python.

i'm all about jumping in blind.
note to the new guys:
you need all the glass they can afford. the more glass the better you'll be! give's you a bigger selection of gear to play with to find the right shot! and if you decided it's not the right lens for you you can always just sell it after all it's just money

A lot of people I know have an 85 1.2.. I don't think it's bragging rights, probably just the guy looking for suggestions with what lens he is using.
