Color adjusting images in Photoshop
I see lots of photos with nice tones and colors that seem to be made during post processing but I've never really been able to replicate any of them in photoshop. I know there are some presets you can use in Lightroom but what about PS? Can anyone help me out with this or maybe point me towards some resources? Thanks
Couple of examples of what I'm talking about:

You can try the photo filters in PS other than that I can't figure out how to adjust the hue of the shadows and highlights in PS.

It's called cross processing. It's a wicked pain in the ass to do it, although I'm sure you can find a filter for it.
Here's a tutorial on how to do it manually.

Edit: Here's a plugin that will do it for you. I can't check it out because it's windows only. Bummer. http://www.redpawmedia.com/processfx.html
Edit again: and another http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/index.aspx
One more edit: That alien skin plugin is sick. It has like 500 film stock types in it.
