trying out a simple macro box
I've been reading about these 'Macro Boxes' and for something that doesn't really cost anything, I can definitely practice another aspect of photography.
I only spent no more than $20 for the whole thing. Granted, I could've used some house lamps and bulbs around the house but I think my wife would start to get annoyed after coming home to a dark house.
Well.. on with the pics.

Used my 50mm 1.8 to take these pics. Enjoy and tips & advice is always welcomed.

Oh, if you're referring to the paper inside the box, its poster board paper.

I actually just made one of these myself to take some product shots of my new knife. I used a similar box set-up but a bit bigger with white poster board as my "backdrop" and I used a white sheet as much diffusion material. I used a flash shooting from the top on slave mode and used some fill from on camera flash. These were my results with my new knife.

Cola, those shots came out real nice. Yea, I'm thinking about adding a third light which will shine from the top of the box.

Thanks man, yeah It is definitely worth trying. For me I just used the single flash from above then a bit of on camera flash and it seemed to work pretty well. I'm not sure how much difference the diffusion material makes, I know most people make them with tissue paper like you did. I chose to use a white sheet because it is a bit thicker and would (in theory) spread the light more without having a hotspot. It's all in trial and error though.
Your shots came out pretty good, the lightbox is a useful took. I look forward to trying some studio insect macro focus stacking with mine in the near future.

I just saw this post on FStoppers.
I'm planning on writing my next blog post on the Cigar shop's website I just shot for. I used a cardboard box, all painted white, with a flash on the inside of the box shooting up and to the right. The light reflected all the way around the box and lit it evenly.
