I have the Canon XS and I love it but there are a few caveats that kind of bugs me.
-Shooting in Raw is great, but the speed kinda blows if you ever need to 'machine gun' a couple of action frames. The XS can only shoot 1.5 fps in RAW.
-No wireless remote function
These are just some small issues that I personally have with it. I am obviously kinda outgrowing the camera but starting out, this is a great camera. If you're not planning to primarily shoot in RAW, don't really need the wireless remote, and/or don't really need the video capabilities the t1i offers, then you're in good company.

Is the 75-300 IS? If not it's going to be sort of a pain in the ass shooting zoomed in.
