I use the Nikon D3000 and it suits me just fine. Great starter camera.

I love my D5000, though I'm looking to move up to the D7000.

I know its been a Nikon vs. Canon battle in D-SLR's for years, but one thing I have learned by getting the wonderful opportunity to work with and sell these camera's is that you can't count out Sony and their Alpha camera's. Since they bought up Minolta a few years back, and their signature Carl Zeiss lenses, they take some amazing photo's too with plenty of ergonomics to go with it. Hail to the Big 3 for Camera's... Nikon, Canon, and Sony... you cant go wrong with either.

I have a canon xsi and love it. I use a lense converter sometimes to use nikon lenses. I think the nikon lense clarity is a bit better than canon. So that's an option
