Pretty cool feature if it is real. I just don't understand how Photoshop can create sky patterns or desert patterns by looking at data around it as big as the examples they were showing. In the last example, it created sky patterns and mountain edges just out of nowhere. How did it know what to make the cloud patterns look like by just looking at the few pixels around it.
I guess that is why I don't develop for photoshop either

I just wish they would reveal a release date. We have CS3 here at work and need to upgrade but might as well wait for CS5 now if it is coming soon, which it should be.

This is going to be a HUGE mistake for Adobe to release CS5 with that Content-Aware tool, if it really is that accurate. Fact of the matter is that it's going to put people out of work. There are people out there that use Photoshop as their job, if Adobe keeps making things easier and easier employers will eventually just be able to do it themselves. I myself use the whole Creative Suite daily at my job whether it's Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Indesign, etc... and we currently have CS4. Luckily my boss is technologically illiterate, but he was amazed when I showed him the video. The desert road for example, something that would take hours is now done in 5minutes with the click of a mouse. I give it 10years before everyone on this planet has the ability to use Photoshop due to it's growing simplicity. And with that, both Adobe as well as the consumer will be stuck with their heads up their asses.

I will have to disagree with that, no matter how many features they add or how shared_user friendlier it becomes it still comes down to the users professional experience and creativity which the average person lacks.
Anyone can Paint if handed a blank canvas, paint and some brushes. But only a few can create a masterpiece...Last edited by TampasOriginalSoarer; 03-26-2010 at 11:02 AM.

Got an email from adobe today, but I saw this video awhile back and it's been debated into the ground lol.
From my understanding, everyone said the same things about the quick selection tool replacing the extraction filter. The demo video was unreal, everyone ooooo'd and ahhhh'd at it and the fact is it just didn't save the world or put anyone out of a job with it's simplicity. Expect it to be easier to use than the clone tool, but also more picky. If you notice, you can still see some slop left over on the grass where the shadows of the trees were, and he's no amature.TONYMORGAN

Yes but you have to think about the future, 10years+ from now. Look at where Photoshop is today. Can you not go on the internet and literally download hundreds of thousands of presets for text, background effects, brushes, custom shapes, etc? There's tutorials left and right on how to do this or do that. Now look further into the future where it could quite possibly come to the point where those are brought into Photoshop where a consumer could press a button and its generated as a default preset. If CS5 can generate a damn unique mountain range WITH inclines, I'm sure a future version of Photoshop will be able to generate media with consumer defined objects within minutes.
Now when it comes to something such as what you do, yes you are 100% correct. You design wraps from scratch to fit peoples needs , you can't download a preset for that since you have to work around what that specific person wants. The same goes for logo design. It's even partial for web design. Just because you can design it, doesn't mean it will automatically become a website. But when it comes to Print media, this isn't a good thing what so ever.
I work for an Enterprising company in Tampa that has 400+ ecommerce sites built underneath it that generate them profit. Myself and two others manage these sites whether its content, layout, design, etc. We also do print ads in magazines which is what im gearing towards the most. I spend probably 5-6hours out of my 9hour day designing in Photoshop for any which one of the websites and the rest incorporating it into the website itself. Now if something came along where a button could be pressed with a specific preset to be used... then my job just became a whole lot more efficient. Probably around 70% more efficient since I wouldn't need to waste time figuring out how to make something look good via trial and error. All I would be needed for would be incorporating it into the website. So from an employers standpoint, my day probably just went from a 9-6 to a 9-12.Last edited by HoosierDaddy; 03-26-2010 at 12:06 PM. Reason: TR needs to fix the "user" issue.

I don't exactly know what you do day to day but being that I work primarily in PS, AI and INDD this kind of stuff would not only make me more efficient, but also allow me to take on numerous other jobs. There's no limit to the amount of work out there for professional designers. Like the others have said... There is, however, a limit on what the normal person can accomplish in CS programs on their own.

I posted what I do day to day in my last post. If you mean more specific I do graphics design and web design. I create spins/ads/promotions whatever youd like to call it and general design for 400+ sites. I also do print in most automotive magazines for the company.
But everyone seems to be stuck on what is coming out now, which is CS5 with the content-aware fill tool. I'm talking when they come out with CS15 for instance (if they dont change the name). Obviously they are implementing HUGE changes with this tool being the start. If that tool does what it does in the videos then its going to be one of the biggest features they've ever come out with... to this date. I guarantee for every cool feature they release they have one that's 5xbetter that is already developed ready to go in the next few versions. It's all about promotion and I have a funny feeling as the years pass by you will see what I'm getting at. In today's world everything is about being hitech and simplicity of use, mainly so anyone can do it. Photoshop and other Adobe programs are definitely becoming a prime example of that. (besides flash, that sh!t makes me want to kill myself.)Last edited by HoosierDaddy; 03-26-2010 at 01:54 PM. Reason: Stupid shared_user crap
