Swim Meet
This past Saturday i got to experience shooting a swim meet. A first for me. It was a very, very challenging event. Timing was everything. With over 1,000 swimmers, meeting requests for pictures was difficult. And i learned a lot from the 20+ year veteran i was shooting with.
By attending this meet, i was able to open a few more doors. Another swim meet in April, and a meet in North Carolina in May. Needless to say, i am very excited and anxious for these future events.
Below are a few shots i was happy with.
For those interested, I'll update the thread as the events arrive.
Butterfly Stroke - Sold for $59.00 to the swimmer.

I am going to try and shoot some divers. I am going to try to get entries from under the water. The coach wants to see how they are doing so she asked if I could do it. Cant wait.
BTW really nice shots.Manx Motorsports.. Check us out for your motorcycle needs!

^ It's a pretty hard sport to photograph, parents will usually pay good money for good shots.. I know plenty of people who would have paid all kinds of crazy money just to have a picture of their kid swimming when I used to swim! Very Nice Shots DD!!!

Great! Be sure to post the pictures up afterward. I'd love to see them.
Yes. On top of a $10 fee just to register to have your child photographed. The parents went crazy over the pictures of their children. It was nice to have my work admired for once
The kids ranged from about 8-13.
In may, i shoot the big dogs. 18-25
Agreed.

Yeah, swimming is tough... especially getting really nice shots of the fly.
I did some swimming shots for a high school senior shared_session once. I set up some lights and had some fun with it

i remember back in my swimming days a phototag coming out and trying to get "the money shot" of me full up in fly. took about 10 passes but when he got it we paid a butt load for the shot. under water lighting can make some awesome effects for night shoots.
fully stretched out in the air from a dive is always a keeper shot too
love the swim shots can't wait to see more.

That's pretty neat. That adds a little more to the photo.
Use your cam? Why would i do that?
Getting you out to shoot is a possibility though. There are a few photographers, so if i ever need another i'll let you know, for sure.
Ha! Thanks Merv! It's just a Rebel XTi body. I was using a canon 100-400L
Thanks man. You're right, people pay a good amount of money for good shots of there kids swimming. We probably sold about $450-500 worth of just pictures.
