Yeah, ANOTHER noob with a camera!
Eleven days ago I bought a Nikon D3000 with an 18-55mm VR lens and a 55-200mm lens. I'd like to get another VR lens maybe something like 18ish to 180ish so I don't have to keep changing lenses. I'd also like a macro lens at some point and take some classes eventually. Anyway, it was suggested to me to pick up 2 books, one "Understanding Exposure" and "The Digital Photography" books. They just came in so I have plenty of reading to do. I've only partially read the Nikon User's manual, mostly because I will read some and then have to go try out what I've learned without finishing the read! AADD at it's finest!

Here are some shots that I've taken since I've bought the camera.
Comments, suggestions, criticism etc welcome. I think these are my best so far but I know I've got a long way to go. I saw some of you guys have a flickr account, not sure of any others, so I made one too. Flickr: Adrenalin302's Photostream

Thanks for suggesting the lens.
Would you mind telling me why you are suggesting this lens to me? I mean to ask, what is it that you see in my photo's that prompt you to think that I need that particular lens or are you just saying that this lens would benefit a lot of photographers? Criticism wanted, btw.
I only have the two lenses that I mentioned above and changing lenses between those 2 so often is a little annoying/worrisome and I'm always nervous about something flying in the camera body. This is why I had thought of possibly getting an 18x200 vr, but I would have to save some for it.
Looking at the Prime 1.8 35mm you posted, and judging by what I just read about it, it is a semi-macro lens that would help with contrast, lighting and sharpness of smaller objects. (please correct me here, as I need to admit, I have a lot to learn). Did I mention that I really want to take some classes?

I have the same lens that you have and I recently purchased the35mm 1.8 and I was blow away be the quality of the lens it is badasssssss!
Another article here Prime lenses, and why you need one :: Photocritic photography blogPrime lenses come in a wide range of focal lengths from wide angles through to the very longest of tele-photo lenses used by many sports photographers and paparazzi.

I am recommending based on the fact that you said you were planning to buy a new lens you already have those 2, the prime would round off the kit... we all have to change lens you tend to get use to it.

Do you have photoshop? If you do, take a look into the Lens Correction filter. The picture you posted of the building, it looks like the building is leaning backwards. Lens Correction filter fixes that.

Thanks. I have CS2 and have never even looked at the lens correction filter tool. I appreciate the heads up. I haven't read that article yet, but I just looked in photoshop and played with it some.

I'm not sure if I should have left a small amount of "lean" to it or not. I'll check out that link. Thanks again
