What did you buy/get for your camera today?
I'm sure you've seen a thread like this before but if not then basically what you do is every time you upgrade your gear or get something photography related post here.
I'll start with my newest purchase:
4 COKIN FILTERS AND 4 ADAPTOR RINGS - USED - eBay (item 380193404296 end time Jan-06-10 18:05:14 PST)
Now I can finally use the Cokin filter holder I got for Christmas

Since I'm selling the 17-55 f/2.8, I'm thinking about picking up the 20mm or 24mm prime to fill that focal length gap in my primes I've been missing.

Well, yes and no. I'll compare it to my dinky 18-55 VR rig lens for comparisons sake.
Size: its huge, with the hood its even more huge. The 18-55 is literally a 1/3 of the total size and has basically the same focal length.
Sharpness: Yes, here is where it shines over the 18-55, stopping the 18-55 down provides similar results however, providing you've got the light to do it.
Light falloff: Appears to be worse on the 17-55 than the 18-55, IMO, just comparing shots taken at f/11 on both lenses and comparing them all.
Price: $1300 vs. $130, you make the call there.
Overall: The 17-55 is great, but it really doesnt "feel" like an f/2.8 lens, Barrel distortion is a bit worse than desired, and even at 2.8 I still find myself pumping ISO and slowing down a bit when using it indoors for...well...anything that doesnt involve my studio lights. And the price, its currently my most expensive lens, out of all that I own. And for me to not be jumping up and down screaming about how good it is should say something.TONYMORGAN

yeah, i hadnt either so i asked my mother in law for it in my stocking
i havent actually used it yet, the one she got me has the brush on one end and instead of the felt pad (like the lenspen i wanted) on the other it has a spray solution and it comes with a cloth. i thought about returning it to get the one i want so i hadnt opened it yet but the one i want you have to order online and i'm lazy and decided maybe i'll give this one a try....but i havent yet, so i'll let you know when i do!
