Pileated Woodpecker
A few from this afternoon at Lettuce Leaf Park- I do not see Pileated Woodpeckers around here very often and was happy he posed for me for a minute.

Taken with Nikon D700 & 80-400vr.

Last time Matt and I went to Andersen Park, we saw one of these. At least I think it was one of these. They are so cool.
Great shots of him. Glad he posed

Damn you, one-upping me with the D700!

I'm just holding out for a D3x, if/when they release it. We can just speculate right now...
But thats a fun lens too, slow, but for outdoor, daylight wildlife shots its good! Do you shoot wildlife often? Look into the Tamron 200-500!

Thanks all-
D700 is awesome and just what I need- but now I have to upgrade half my glass to FX. I like shooting wildlife and just upgraded the 70-300vr to the 80-400vr until I can afford something better- seems to do alright although it is slow to focus. I have read mixed reviews on the Tamron.
Here is a shot from last night with the 80-400 on the D300- my last shot with that camera now sold and boxed up getting ready to go to UPS.
