Now it's time to set my own picture style. I'm having so much fun...
If you enjoy shallow DOF, put down the $75 for the 50mm 1.8.

Also, your pictures get less and less sharp as you go up past F/11ish, google 'circle of confusion' for more info.

Try setting your white balance ahead of time, rather than leaving it on Auto. That would have helped your first one termendously.

Since having the camera, I have noticed that when it was on the tripod the quick release bracket would lean more easily after each use. I look at it and see there is supposed to be tightener for it, but there isn't one on the tripod. So I'm getting ready to call Adorama when I just happened to look at the picture of the tripod on their website. Turns out I've had it this whole time. I knew that second tightener didn't have a function!

Well, white balance sensors seem to have issues with being accurate in light that's much warmer than 5500k. The streetlight scene that HD posted is an example of that - look how orange (warm) the colors are. Correct white balance will give a more accurate rendition of the colors.

Take a picture inside your house tonight with the lights on (incandescent, not flourescent) and then try setting the white balance to tungsten (probably a light bulb icon)and then compare the two. You'll see pretty quickly what it does. It works under flourescent lighting too, but you have to pick the flourescent whitebalance setting instead.

I just realized something.

i always shoot raw.
and mess with the White Balance in the photoshop slider that lets me adjust white balance.

is it the same thing do just do it in photoshop , or does it come out better to do the actual settings on the camera?
