Ordered the flash tube today, cost me a whopping $8.12 + tax + shipping from California. Should be just under $15, arrives in about a week.

You know I woulda bought a couple of them. Even if you didnt need them. you coulda sold the extra for $25 for local ppl. PLus its always great to have spares

If it shocks you, why not take out the batteries? Or is it powered by MAGIC?

is the capacitors, they store the charge up even if you take the batteries up

Yeah, Mars is right. The shock isn't bad though... makes me jump every time, but really just like a strong static shock. I'm having a hell of a time desoldering one side of the old bulb.

Basically completed this today. For those of you who are amatuer solderers (like me) be sure to buy some tip tinner to clean the tip of your iron:

Picked up another flash today, bringing the family to three:
