My dog was neglected/abused until it was about 1yr old until I took it when the previous owners left it for dead. Believe me, I set my presence near this dog. I have it's mindset so that if I stop, stare it in the eyes for about 3seconds it will haul ass and hide lol. Knowing the history and how it isnt 100% comfortable with people and being that it is a purebred rednose pitbull, I don't take my chances. I have done that thumb thing but that's when I'm playing with it. If I do that when she's actually in bite mode my thumb = gone. Those three things are the only thing's she goes nuts about, so I have no problem with it.

If anything I just do it secretly when she's sleeping.
