The job consisted of some minor ding/dent repair, primed and then sealed white. Course silver went over that followed by House of Kolors flake. The candy took 7 coats to get the desired effect and 3 coats of clear after all that--then sand and buff.

We use U-Tech paint as its local and a good friend is a dealer. It was the 4.0 high solids production clear. It did not flow out well for an overall in this heat so it was sanded heavy with 1000 and then 2000 before buff. Good stuff for the money.

Holly shit 7 coats of candy!!!!Yeah he must really know what he's doing.I tell you what though, after using the high solids clear I won't use anything else now,the stuff has so much depth to it after it's sanded and buffed out.Why do you choose to cut with 1000?I know it cuts down on sand time and cost of paper, but don't you have problems with getting deeper scratches out?Even 2000 won't pull out some of 1000's deeper scars. Not knocking your method, because everybody has there own,I was just intrested in your technique.

Actually we started dry sanded with 1000 on a DA then wet sand with 2000. I would NOT reccommend this for really nice jobs but lets face it--- Im doing this stuff in my house garage!! Some stuff will have to slide for the prices we charge. Like I said, the material did not flow out well and there was so much under the clear that it made a rough finish. Thats why the third coat of clear was applied to have something extra to heavy sand.
