Need help with touch up painting. Giving DIY a try.

On my superduty about 8 little tiny spots on my door started to bubble, and pick off with a fingernail, I had no clue what it was, looked like tar or something but after really looking at it, it was just random bubbles in the factory paint.

I went to ford, and got wedgewood blue touchup paint, the litte brush on stuff (like fingernail polish).

Now, I know it's not going to be perfect unless I have someone who knows what they're doing repaint the door, but I'm tired of it sticking out like a sore thumb.

All the little spots are in like a 6" by 6" area, I tried wetsanding that area with 1500, then 2000, applying the touch up paint, wetsanding with 2000 again, and buffing it once dry and lemme tell ya, it looks worse than when I started. I'm just wanting to know, how to get the paint chips to be smooth so that I can touch them up with touchup paint, wetsand and buff over it and it somewhat blend

Any suggestions? Sorry for the book I just wrote, and my lack of know-how, but I want to learn and make due for now, until I can have the whole truck repainted.

typically after you wetsand the touch-up, you should try a little compound. it should help to even the coat

Welp, as I figured I would do, I gave it a shot and pretty much destroyed part of the door, and part of the pass. fender that I tried touching up.

Looks like I'll be getting that new paintjob sooner than I wanted.
