Need a paint job estimate for a 95 Mustang
Hey guys. I'm in the market for a repaint of my Mustang soon and figured might as well make a thread and see who would be able to paint it for me.
I contacted a few businesses already but more opinions never hurt any right? What I'm looking for is a repaint of the same color I have on already. Don't need the engine bay painted and probably not the door jambs either. The body itself is in good shape. There's a small, and I mean very small bump near the trunk but nothing serious at all. Roof has some surface rust on it but it's only surface rust so I don't think that would be much of a problem since the whole body is going to get stripped down anyway. Along with the paint job, would it be possible to ask that the window cowl, that plastic piece the windshield wipers sit on, get repainted OEM flat black? It has become quite weathered and grayed out thanks to the sun so I figure since it's going to get painted soon, might as well check into getting that taking care of as well. What I'm looking for it at least factory paint job quality. How much would that be and if I wanted to spend a bit more for a better paint job, how much would that run me? Just an average price range for the level of paint that you guys offer would be great. Here's some pics. They aren't great because they are from a cell phone camera but you can see what my car looks like and why it needs a repaint so bad, ha. Peeling clear coat is such an ugly sight to behold... Any replies or price quotes would be great, thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would say for a decent paint job you are looking at around 2500 plus depending on where you go. If you want to bring it by my shop for a solid estimate call me at 813.766.6665.
there are quite a few good painters on this site. You might find the one for you here. Josh |

I would realistically probably quote it a little higher just because of the clear-coat peeling. It appears that it is happening on most of the car and the only way I would want to repaint the car would be to strip the clear off the car everywhere that it even looks like it might one day possible peel off, primer everything that doesn't have good clear, and then start the rest of it.

95 Mustang repaint
I just had my '95 ragtop GT repainted. I asked to get the cowl done in the body color. The painter said they could not get the paint to stick; too many years of Black Chrome stuff on it.
Any way I've seen replacements on the web for around $160. I had estimates in Colorado from $3600 to $8000. I had no clear coat peeling but lots of lacquer checking form the Colorado sun. They had to sand blast the fiberglass hood, now it isn't guite smooth. I went with the cheaper paint job and regret it. It looks good but I had to take it back three times for drips and various issues. Still not perfect. Make sure you look for every door ding and specify that you want it fixed. If you don't the new paint sure brings attenting to the ding. Again you get what you pay for. |
