orange peel

hey guys my friend just painted his car and it has lots of orange peel. the guy that painted the car said he used like 4 or 5 cots of clear, i will like to know if wet sanding and buffing he will be good ??????

help plz

Thats a lot of clear at one time. Sand and buff if you know what your doing. If you dont....well, you know.

yea someone professional will wet sand and buff but i just wanna know if the orange peel will be gone

Some of it but clear will peel badly if sprayed wrong.

If you find some one that knows what they are doing then they should be able to fix the mess. I would go ahead and tell you what to do but then I would have like 15 people that think they know what they are talking about that would say I am wrong. Ah...the beauty of TR paint / body forums. exact same thing happened to my car bought it with that MAKO SPECIAL lol and took it somewhere had it wetsanded and buffed and besides maby around some of the edges u would never be able to tell it was mako the orange peel goes away but be carefull ive see people sand too much and some of the sanding marks have remained visable even after buffing

keep your paper clean...1500 and 2000 grit don't usually scratch the paint,but a fart chunk from a rats ass will...that is to say "anything" ...dirt, sand,a pretty hard booger,a hair...almost anything will scratch the paint.

watch out for solvent pop with that much clear as it cures it could still pop even a week after painted ive seen it happen

the orange peel is in the the clear not in the base unless its a single stage painted wrong.if u have 5 coats of clear all u need is a wet sand and buff.

ONE MORE THING IF U GONNA TAKE ADVICE TAKE IT FROM OLD SCHOOL HES THE ONLY ONE ON HERE THAT KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT.DONT KNOW HIM BUT HEARD NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM AND HIS INFO IS TOP NOTCH

junpower is an unknown quantity at this point: 10
Here is a picture of some wetsanding and polishing.
There should be no Scratches left over.
It takes many steps and 3 diffrent sand papers to cut the peel down nicely.In the QP pictures you can see the polishing in comparison to the B pillars.
