Civic Paintjob?

Ok well a lil less than a month ago my bro-in-law said his bro can sand/body work/primer my car well he indeed sanded it... did no body work and used rattle can primer... needless to say I wasnt very happy but I didnt pay for it so I cant complain too much...

So now i've decided to do all the body work and paint myself... What I need to know is How much Primer, Paint and Clearcoat Im gonna need...

Its a 1994 Civic Coupe (in my sig) I was thinkin a coat of Primer, 2/3 Coats of Color and 3 Coats clear... How many Quarts of each will I need to do the whole car and inside the trunk. (Engine bay is gonna be a different color and I figure 1 Quart should cover it)

Thnx and anyone who can actually help will be rep'd...

gallon of primer..use a 2k primer/sealer, its basically the same as polyester putty, and fill fill in scratches up to 1/8th inch deep, basically clear coat type scratches or sand paper scratches. i'd get a gallon of paint also, seeing that if its your first time painting, you will have runs, you will have parts you might rush through or mess up on, so its easier buying it at one time and having the exta in-case paint. you'll also need reducer/hardener depending on the paint you use, but where ever you buy it from, will sell/most likely sell the recommended product to use with it, if you use BSF, stick with ALL BSF, if you use dupont, use all dupont (their primer, base coats, reducers, hardeners, clear coats, etc). and for clear coat, depending on the gun i'd go with a gallon as well. to give you a rough idea, a pint is enough to spray a door with 2-3 good coats. if you need any more info PM me

Dude if you dont know what youre doing, dont do it. Im not being cocky or a d$%k. But if you spend $300-$400 dollors on paint material and it comes out bad you'll be super-pissed. Not to mention all that rattle can crap should come off before you put some real product on there.Check aroud for a deal from local shop or individual who does this on the side.

I know all the rattle can has to come off thats why I included Primer in my question... and I know how much local shops charge and I dont have that kind of money. Plus I wanna get into paint and body so why not start wit my beater? If it comes out bad then hey at least I tried, I was only pissed cuz they told me they would do all the body work and shit and they didnt...
