scratched windshield

had some bad wiper on there when i got it...it has a whole bunch of very fine scratches...(the entire area that the wipers touch) you cant even see them unless its at night and somones headlights hit it but its really hard to see when that does happen. is there anyway i can rid of this without having to get a new windshield? really fine grit wet sanding maybe? if so what grit?

thanx

Glass can absolutely be wet-sanded, (I have done it many times). The general rule of thumb is if you feel it with your fingernail, it is too deep to be wet-sanded.
