Water spots happen because the water drop that caused the spot is not dried off quickly enough...it's left to dry and the spot you see is actually all the "hard" water minerals that dry into what looks like a spot. Wash your car in the shade always. Keep your car waxed to help water sheet off naturally. Black is especially a bitch so do yourself a favor and get yourself one of those My Clean Spotless car wash gizmos you'll be waaaay ahead of the game...water sheets off like magic...

sometimes they need to buffed out, thats only if they are etched into the paint itself, if they are on the surface most detail shops should have a solution that removes hard water stains from paint but becareful because they are usually acid based. in the right hands they can work wonders, in the wrong they can mess up paint worse than the water spots. depending on what area you are in i might be able to help you. i am in st pete and have a small shop that does mainly full reconditioning and i deal with the waterspot epidemic daily. email me if you need anymore help slosupra1164@yahoo.com
