do I sand base coat before applying clear and what grit ?

No you do not sand base coat, and if you had the base coat on the car for along time then just apply another coat of base so it can stick to the clear.

im certified in ppg dupont sikkens and diamont been in the business a long time and yes you can sand the base coat usually give it good amount of flash time like 15 min before sanding use 1000 grit lightly over the dirt nibs then reapply 1-2 coats of base to cover ure sand scratches make sure they are not visable anymore then apply your clear coat .... custom and quality painters do this to every job they do not a macco technique lol and if u had that base coat on for a while do what he said about applying another coat but scuff the base before with that 1000 or 1500 otherwise you are defeating the purpose
