Cost of paint work.

People want to know why paint work is so costly....without looking at labor costs, I just went to the paint store to day to stock up on materials for a job I am painting this weekend and these is what I got....

1 Gallon of Diamont White paint (color code GM 8624)
1 Gallon of Diamont tri-coat paint (color code Toyota 051)
1 Gallon of Diamont UR50 mid temp reducer
1 Gallon of DC92 Diamont clear (with 42 series hardener)
1 Box of 1/2 inch foam tape (for the door jambs etc...)

My total cost 938.88

Granted I bought alot of paint (its a big car) and its a tri stage job. But still you can see why a good paint job is so expensive.

I know I bought alot of paint but I am painting jambs and trunk as well and wanted to make sure I had enough. Besides my vehicle is 8624 so if I dont use it all i can still use it. I am just going to be upset if I dont use most of the pearl as I will have no real need for it

The cougar is a big car and I think I will use atleast 3 quarts of the mid coat. didnt want to run short on it though.

I will post pics when I am done. Pushed it back to friday due to some fine detail work that needed to be attended to...

yea you bought WAAAY TOO MANY GALLONS, why dont you go learn how to paint abd buy your materials right, i mean wtf, waste of paint, gonna ruin the earth, and after the job you have to throw the rest away, since everyone knows that you cant use it anymore after one job.

yeah...I painted the door jambs tuesday night and I decided to use 2 coats of the Mid coat. I could have gotten away with 2 quarts but I decided that i am going to use the remains to flame out my truck when finished. So it will not go to waste.

Thats scary.....2 coats will do it for me. The customer wants just a touch of pearl so that should be more than enough.
