Tune needed...

Hey guys...I'm new to the forum...

So I have a Hyundai Elantra 04 and am in the process of t/c it...

Does anyone know where I can get it tuned?

I'll be using the SMT-6 for my tuning needs...

You can tune it yourself. Head over to RdTiburon.com if you need to know more about the SMT-6. Same engine also so more info.

Are you going to replace the primaries or go dual rail (much better)?

If primaries i can get you a base map for it, but your going to want to get a turbo box from Denisst099 over on RDT.com to prevent the ECU from pulling your car lean after a few days of driving it hard.

If Dual rail, i can hook you up with a map, minor adjustments will need to be made but its easy.

After you get a good tune on it then go to a dyno, otherwise itll be a lot more $$ in tuning time.

other specs on the kit?

The fifth injector is a good idea for low boost, but youll need to upgrade to 4 extra injectors if you want to push anything over 10 psi (maybe less, depending on how big that 5th injector is.

You have an automatic? Did you tell Tim (TurboElements) this when you made your order?

He makes nice kits now, but i had experiance trying to fit an older kit he made that was made for a 5 speed and because of the extra bulk of the Automatic some adjustments needed to be made.

You didnt need to buy the water temp gauge as im pretty sure the elantras come with it, i'd ditch it and buy a Oil Pressure Gauge. In place of the oil temp gauge id go with an AEM wideband.

Turbo isn't like N/A, your going to be constantly monitoring those gauges and making sure everythings ok. And oil temp and water temp aren't going to be your biggest concerns.

I'm going to get a Wideband for AFR & I did let him know it was an auto. Oil Pressure & Oil temp are basically the same. If the temp goes up so does the pressure. I have a few ideas that I'm not so sure about yet. I did order a custom made 3 gauge pod pillar for all 3 & I'm thinking I'm going to also get the tibby 3 gauge pod for the dash that is OEM in KDM

Actually, it's the opposite in regards to oil temp vs pressure.

As oil temps get higher, the pressure gets lower. Oil's viscosity reduces as temperature increases, as is the trend with most liquids.

Viscosity is the property of a liquid to resist a force inducing liquid flow. So less resistance to flow means less pressure.

This is proven when i start my car in the morning, at idle the pressure on my oil pressure gauge is 40-50psi, and when fully warm at idle it sits around 20 psi.

Oil temperature is helpful as it provides a slightly quicker indicator for bearing failure but if there is a problem with the oil pump failing (or perhaps blockage occuring in the head before the tap for the oil feed), youll turbocharger will starve and overheat from the reduced oil for cooling and the increase friction in the bearing (from the lack of lubrication), this would be quite apparent when your oil psi drops to zero suddenly, giving you the opportunity to save your turbo.

Oil temp gauge would show little changes right away when the pump failed, friction would have to build up in the block to show the lack of oil in the engine.

But enough about that, the more info the better, so get both. lol.

Make sure your wideband is on hand when the turbo goes in, you dont want to risk your engine.

Post some pics when you get the kit, id like to see his newer kits as he has moved on to making most of his parts for hondas.

He was one of the innovators for boosted hyundais, pushing boundries and doing the unheard of, making turbo kits for hyundais, Alpine tried, but their kits were only good for small power and nearly all parts had to be scrapped when going for big numbers.

His current numbers are 445whp/356ftlbs @ 25 psi. 11.59 1/4 mile, with a J2 elantra wagon.

Nice, I'll scratch the water temp and go with a pressure gauge.
