ka injectors won't fire
So monday i went to the local kmart. Turned of the main street into the parking lot. Before i could accelerate again the car had shut off. I tried cranking my car up for a good while with no success. I towed it home and messed with it some more. Disconnected the fuel line going into the rail and there is gas shooting out. Pulled the entire rail and injectors. Well after cleaning and making sure there was nothing blocking the fuel i hooked up the fuel lines back and tried cranking my car to see if the injectors fired. Nothing is shooting out. I have my fuel pump hard wire with a relay. I however noticed that one of the relays next to the ecu was buzzing. Well soon after the realy stopped buzzing but still cant start my car.
I know that the injectors are ground driven. And will check this weekend if the ecu is firing the injectors. Is that relay next to the ecu the EGI(fuel pump relay)? Will it matter if its no good and i have my pump hardwired? Is there any other causes that will make my injectors not fire? Bad ecu?
Car is a stock 95.Last edited by c89s13; 11-09-2011 at 06:57 PM.

Change the relay with another and see....I believe that the ecu gets power through that relay as well as the fuel pump.

there are two relays. EGI and EGI pump. the EGI pump is for the fuel pump, and the EGI is for the ECU.
Also check the fuse labeled Engine Cont, that is the fuse that powers the injectors.

Make sure you didnt hook up the fuel lines backwards.

Check to see if you've got 12V with key on at the injector clips, if you do you've got an issue on the ecu / harness between them and ecu, if not you've got the problem elsewhere, report back and i'll help more.

weird.
you sure you didn't blow the replacement?
if there is a short somewhere that blew it the first time, as soon as you hit the key, it would have blown it again.
You sure you are getting fuel to the rail?
got a running car you can yank the distributor off of real quick? that'll let you know if the CAS is the problem or not.

Yeah i basically go over all the fuses everytime i mess around with it to make sure i haven't blown one as i mess with it. As far as fuel, i had some one turn on the switch as i held the disconnected fuel line. Dist, i swapped in a spare one i have. Still did the same thing.
But i believe i have a spare cas too. Ill try that when i get a chance and report back

So the cas was broken in half. Replacement didn't help either. I also realized that i have no spark. I removed the #1 spark plug, held them against the VC and nothing. Tried different ground points and nothing. However, when i throw in some starting fluid it'll start up but die soon after.

starter fluid will burn just off of compression alone.
you don't need spark to ignite starter fluid.
no fuel and no spark.
bad CAS
bad CAS plug
no power to ECU
bad ECU
that's pretty much it.

Soooooooo, after messing with it i finally got it to start(It'll die out if i let go of the gas but that's due to the timing being off from pulling the dist out so many times). Seems like one of the relays that sits behind the ecu is at fault. I don't know exactly which one is it. Eccs? egi? idk(one of the two behind the ecu) Here's the detail, (First of all, i hate dealing with wiring so hang with me.lol). After pulling the dist out a couple times and putting my multimeter to work i realized the camshaft sensor on the distributor wasn't getting enough voltage to function properly. I went back to the relay and noticed what wire was sending the same amount of voltage as what i was getting at the distributor. After jumping it with one that was giving me 12v it finally cranked. However im kind of confused as to the power it gets and doesn't get when the relay is on and when the key is on the on position. Here's drawing i made.........................

What is this telling me? is there a short somewhere?

Ok, so i was out of town basically the entire month of december and had more important things to worry about than this car. Anyways,
The car now starts but it idles like crap. I told you guys i have my fuel pump hardwired. If i have the switch on it will run super rich and idle super bad(im assuming due to it running rich) but i can rev my engine up. If i have the switch off it will idle better but i can't rev up my engine unless i gradually step on the pedal. If i step on the pedal fast it will die out(im assuming fuel starvation). What does it sound like to you guys?
I also pulled out the fuel rail and had someone crank the car, i noticed all 4 injectors fired at the same time. After some research i read that its normal for the injectors to fire at the same time. Is this true?Last edited by c89s13; 01-19-2012 at 09:10 PM.

Sorry I was wrong about that, all 4 injectors will fire during startup. Did you ever change your ecu?
