i know Martins not the only guy, but i've dealt with martin, had him work my harness and dyno tune my car, he's proven his worth, and will be the only one besides myself to touch any of my Nissans...
as for using him as a referral, and the ease of wiring, i only suggest Z Fever cause the OP was not asking "who ya'll 'round hur cun swap me in wun ah them thur Japanese racin' motors that go pppshhh'in all 'round town? ah want ut dun in wunna yer dag gone driveways, i tell yah hu-wut"
he was asking what shop, not person... so i replied in kind...

The OP did mention possibly doing it himself, and some others suggested people in the community, not specifying who, i've seen stuff done by zfever, and i've seen plenty done in driveways that would put it to shame, not knocking martins work or anything, because what im comparing probably wasnt done by him, however you trying to knock what can easily be done in a driveway, in a few hours, is retarded.
Oh and for the record, I believe the $4800 cost on their page includes the motorset, when you figure $2000 value of a good motorset, $100 for the walbro pump, $100 for the downpipe, thats $2200 so they are charging what $2600 for installation labor and fluids, interesting seeing how shop rate and time going by the book is only $1160 to replace an S13 engine, and then figure $200 for S13 wiring harness work, .9 hr for the fuel pump another $86, so a total of $1446 in labor to do the swap, i'm wondering where the extra $1150 comes in , coke to sniff while doing the swap ? Or maybe for after ? Ok ok, so we can attribute $150 easily to fluids and bs stuff, but theres still an unaccounted for $1000...

i dont play devil's advocate but everyone and their mother had their swap done at XAT for $5800 when it was cool to do so... i was knocking out 3 of them out a week personally..
you cannot look at what it costs to swap in another s13 motor by the book.. that is stupid
prep time for the sr...
changing out bad parts like turbos.. worn out cams.. etc... before you actually put your motor in..
you have to deflect the costs of bad motors / parts / labor in what you charge if you are running a shop that is going to actually survive..
there is a lot more to it than just swapping in a motor... if you stand behind a product.. and that is what gets figure into the cost of the swap.
I have done 398 (yes I have kept count) swaps personally myslef over the last 13 years and can tell you that the price is more than justified

I guess we can attribute some of it to the a/c setup, either way, after calling to ask about an axle shaft, and being told it'll be $125, for an axle that is available at parts stores for $90, rebuilt, and seeing some of the work thats come out of there, I wouldnt be dropping my stuff off there.
(please note this is not in reference to work done by martin, as i'm sure his reputation is well earned by the work he's done, however him coming to work at a shop that has definetly earned a rep for poor work, doesnt automatically rescue it instantly. )

Oh and yes I can look at the S13 book times for swapping the engine, the only thing different in the S13 base install offered by ZFEVER, is to install the stock SMIC, other than that bolting one in is just the same as bolting in a KA24DE.
Extra cost for the wiring was covered in my list, which is the only difference other than intercooler.

I agree.. me coming over to a shop does not cleanse it's reputation.. but none of the original crew when I started at Fever is there any more. Weather it was by their mistakes the reputation went south or not, they are no longer there anymore. I now have 3 guys that I trust with the work that is performed and will not keep anyone that costs me reputation. Just like other well known techs in the area, I will have a lot of people that like and respect my work, and will come to me, no matter which shop I am at.

I didn't shop bash or name drop anyone in particular, so this fuckup example doesn't apply. Didn't you put an sr in your car all by yourself..? IIRC your car isn't a stock swap either hence the tuning issues that Martin sorted out for you. With a little research and planning a stock sr swap is cake any way you look at it. If you aren't a wiring guru have someone do the harness and call it a day. I'm sure a chimp can turn a wrench, change sockets and operate a hoist.
