Thinking of swapping a 1JZ in my 13
I currently have an SR, a couple of days ago i drove my buddies supra witch has an all stock 1J pushing 10 pounds. It was my first time driving it and ill be honest i was surprised of the power it had.
Why I'm thinking of putting a Toyota engine you may ask? Well... lets just say that ever sense i had an SR and trying to push out all the power you can out of this little 4 cyl engine its been problems after problems... maybe its just an shared_user error... but i think its time to upgrade to a bigger power plant. Why Toyota engine do? Well I was thinking of RB... but its wayyyy out of my price range...
Im kind of sick of dicking around with it anymore and i just want to put something stock and just turn up the boost and dont have to worry about anything...
I just have a couple of questions, my first one is for the wiring... where and how can i get that done? Going from an sr harness to a 1j? 2nd one is drive shaft... where can i get that done too? And for those of you who own or know much about those engines is a 2j worth the money over the 1j or? Any feedback is welcome as you can see i dont know anything about toyota engines... how hard is the swap for those of you who has done it?
As im still making my decision for those of you who are looking for an sr swap take a look at mine right now...

its all apart again and the only thing it needs is rods as i have sold them already. I'M NOT PARTING IT OUT YET!!!! SO DONT ASK FOR INDIVIDUAL PARTS!!! ALL GOES TOGETHER!!!! If someone gives me a reasonable offer for all of it i might just let it go and get this 1J swap on the way... I paid close to $1400 alone just for the manifold which has less then 500 miles on it!!! I know I'm not going to get anywhere near what i paid for all my parts but just to keep in mind.Last edited by STORM; 11-10-2009 at 04:13 PM.

: Tech2 Motorsports : Products : S13 and S14 - JZ Swap Parts:
It's probably gonna be an expensive swap. I'd stick with the 1jz rather then trying to get the 2jz. Just making things more expensive. Hope the link helps, Good luck.Under construction..

^ Na 2jz's acn be found cheap.
ARP head studs and cometic head gasket with big injectors a nice turbo and tuning crazy power.
I know of a certain person who has a na-t (on na-t.com) 2jz stock motor (in s14) with 50 shot and mods above made 689, he then took the nitrous off did cams and made 760 something IIRC.
I will be doing this one day. You have to find deals. I was so stupid. I passed up on 3 2jz ge motors: 1: 80k miles auto tranny motor ecu and harness $200 ///// 2. 5k mileage rebuilt motor $300 w/ harness and ecu /// 3. $200 motor and ecu ( motor on here)

Well I know Na 2jz are cheap, But even if you were going to go that route I'd just stick with the 1jz just so you don't have to search for misc. parts such as turbo, turbo mani, injectors, all that stuff. He seems to mostly want a stock motor and turn up the boost a little. I don't know, it's not my decision. But If it were me I'd just do 1jz.

Thanks for the link, i see they charge about $500 or so for the harness which is something i need to keep in mind. $1500 for the kid do... i dont know about that... that sure sounds expensive for what it includes.
And the other thing will my speedo and rpms and all that stuff work the same or? Thanks for the info guys...
I really do think I'll be going 1J, i really don't want to get an NA motor and start from there. And the 2J with the 6 speed tranny is around $5000 or so right?

YES!!!! DO IT! I have a buddy up here in Ocala that is in the process of doing that exact swap. 1JZ in a S13. His has a big single on it instead of the stock twins. He works at a shop that does swaps and paint and body work, and stuff like that. So he is going to be fabbing up all his owns mounts. PM Flyspyder55 and he might hook you up with a good price on the mounts and everything after he makes his own. Good luck, and you should make this a build thread as soon as you acquire your motor.

2JZ's are not that expensive anymore. You can buy a longblock with all accessories/harness/ecu+auto trans for around $2500-$3k longblocks can be had for around ~2k. Your car will be extremely nose heavy so keep that in mind (as your cars handling will altered), if you are just looking for big HP that isn't a problem. If you are looking for balance, a stellar power/tq curve TT VQ or a LSx swap.

I'll def get a treat going when i decided what to do, by the way thx for the info EludeR as i was not really thinking about the handling. Right now I really don't care about drifting as like I mentioned before all I want is a fast daily driver that i dont have to dick around once is done too much. I still would love to take turns at a fast speed to but I'm sure it will just take me a bit of time to get us to it. I would love to 2J it but the tranny is expensive as hell... is there anyway i can put like a 5 speed one instead of the monster 6? I mean i know its a bulletproof tranny but damn is it expensive.

Just so you know think twice on what you are getting into, i never thought twice doing this project till i found out how hard and expensive it was going to be. At the moment i'm selling everything including my car but you will need a alot of custome parts!
The trans is the hardest part you will not only be spending alot of money on the trans but will need to get parts made to make this swap work! You will need cust Shifter extension plus have the drive shaft custome made and you won't be able to get the right measurement unless you have the motor in the car and everything. Too much to list my best advice to you is to do LOTS of reasearch and get an idea of what your going to spend and parts you will need. Hit me up if you need any help or more advice i can help you with. GL
