i should graduate next year, and get like, a job that pays, or something
so i've been thinking about this whole thing, and getting a decent job somewhere that pays somewhat ok . figure 39-55k for first year EE bachelor degree recipients from USF.
most people will buy a car, or something. nah, i think i'm just going to stick with the beater. the question is how much money do you dump into it that first year ? i'll still be living where i live now, which is dirt cheap in new tampa more than likely, i have no reason to leave there. so what do you do with the car? the moped will obviously be upgraded to like, a supermotard cannondale or something like that, or maybe a suzuki sv or something easy and lightweight in the next year, but the 240. 1. full strip to bare body / repaint / full color change / etc / new aero / etc / interior / ultimate comfort daily driver 2. buy daily driver of some sort (ugh) / turn car into assrapingly fast trackbastard / explode cheap front bumpers each month due to being 1" off the ground at sebring / wreck and die in turn 17 3. leave it as is, parked somewhere because i refuse to change the starter 4. powerplant change i have some crazy ideas in my head, I just don't know how feasible they are as of right now. |

fuck buying a house anytime soon, who knows what the market will be in two years, but honestly, f that. and f buying a new bmw. every fag does that. seriously. nothign screams living in south tampa more than drivin a bmw, wearing an ed hardy/affliction shirt and true religion jeans.
if you had 15-20k, what would you do to my car? (other than transform it into starscream, which is pretty impossible) |

Honestly, I think you've got it all backwards. If USF EE's are seeing 39-55k, you should be expecting the bottom of the range. The job market is absolute crap, plus you've got no experience. Same shit happened to me in 2002. It took me 4 years to catch up in salary to my peers. By the way, we have a hiring freeze right now, so sorry!
For the love of God don't buy a BMW. Talk about a trap for the newly employed; buying a car that you couldn't even cover in a year, before taxes. For the same money, I'd rather have my 08 Element and 06 Altima and not be called a prick in a 135i. How much to put in your car? How about a starter and whatever to get it running, plus some tires to have fun with. Get yourself established first. Get a daily driver that's paid for and reliable. Put 10k in the bank. You might not want to buy a house now (even though it's a great time to get in), but 3-5 years down the road you might. And 20% down doesn't grow on trees. And all 20k into an S13 will get you is a bunch of headaches and an empty wallet. Trust me. See you in turn 17! |

well if this is a wish list kinda thing I would start with the cosworth SR built and ready!
turbo selection would depend on use of the car and driving style but a good strat IMO that's if you wanted to go with a 4bangerLOL |

theres no reason at all for matt to ever have to buy a motor built by anyone else, cosworth included.
epstein hit it pretty much dead on. daily driver is the best idea. my ek coupe was under 2k, has ac, and rides well. s13 hangs out in the garage. keep the money in the bank, buy different wheels, and a stack of the new kumho mx's/ hoosiers buy a stack of bumpers to destroy, die in turn 17. |
