    exedy hyper single

i am looking to replace my spec stage D (255mm) clutch setup with an exedy hyper single or possibly a blitz or hks. i dont have any problem with the spec other than the clutch pedal pressure is a little to hard for my knee when driving in traffic(army injury). i had no problems with the pedal pressure of my old spec 3 so i am looking for a clutch with around that pedal pressure or less.

i called exedy and asked them about how much power the hyper single will hold and they said 400 torque at the flywheel. i am at 348 torque at the wheels. they said since i was right at the threashold of the clutches rated holding capasity i may want to look at a twin setup which is even more expensive, but i will save up for it if i have to.

so basicly, i just need to know if the hyper single will hold the power and how hard is the pedal pressure?

this is mainly a street car with occational trips to the drag strip and possibly a little auto cross in the future.

also has anyone bought from this company. they have really good prices, oddly cheaper than any other place i have found:

Exedy - Hyper Single Clutch - Nengun Performance

    thanks,

    aaron

do you know if the single will hold? my hp and torque are really close to the recomended max for the single.

the single has a clamp load of 2655lbs, and the twin has 2205lbs. would this mean the pedal pressure would be lighter on the hyper twin?

beware ratings based on HP. Torque is all that matters in from a clutch's perspective.

ok, then the clutch is supposed to hold 400 flywheel torque my engine is putting out 348 wheel torque. so my engine should be right at 400 flywheel torque. so it is really close.

dude, the hyper single should hold it perfectly. that clutch is severely underrated. it's 100x better than any spec pos.

Same setup I had in my car, I loved it after you get used to the engagement their is no other clutch/flywheel combo I would have wanted. I've heard of people putting down well over 450whp with this clutch, doesn't seem like it's not upto the task. It looks sexy out of the box too purple anodized pressure plate, 6puck disc.

I checked the pedal pressure on the Exedy hyper single before I bought it. It was about like my old WRX's stock clutch, which was just firm but not heavy. It's a lot lighter than the Nismo upgraded unit (full face organic).

Looks like someone cut off Mattback. I've quoted his posts below because they contain good feedback, and certainly are not controversial.

My clutch pedal feel was heavier then a stock WRX clutch... I agree completey with mattback's statement about exedy underrating that particular clutch.
