Non Turbo SR20, but not for long
This build is probably going to take forever for several reasons. One, Its my daily driver and I NEED to drive it six days a week. Two, Money doesn't come easy these days (Dad went to Iraq, Mom lives in California, and I don't have my degree yet so I can't really get a REAL job.) And three, I have not really worked on cars before. Other than tune ups, oil changes and tire stuff, I'm a total noob lol. I have raced and worked on dirtbikes for the past 5 years but they are nothing like this.

I paid 1600 for this car about a month ago and it came already swapped. Problem is, since this guy did it himself and I wasn't there, I have no clue how any of this is done. Fuck. All I know is that its non turbo and hasn't been modded at all.
Anybody else start a build in the same spot that I am?

Plenty of people have started in the same spot you are.
There are a few things I would do :- Fill those dumb ass vents on the side.
- get rid of that ugly exhaust.
- have someone that knows SR/wiring to look it over.

dude i hate my exhaust so much. Its not even funny. Thats probably the first thing I'm going to change. And the holes on the side are from the skirts that were put on. I am planning on getting a full body kit eventually and they will go away when that day comes.
And the shittiest part about this is that i have ZERO friends with a 240. Everyone out here has either a Mustang, Trans Am, or GTO.

1600 was a good deal. You got lucky if it all runs right. Do what Mike said. Have someone with SR know how look at it. Id suggest Clawhammer. He does live far away, but does amazing things with a wiring harness.

This is the best running car I have owned. I had a truck right before this and I swear i must have replaced half of that fucking engine. Water pump, radiator, fan clutch, alternator, starter etc.
I'm starting to look for parts and I kep finding stuff for the sr20det. A lot of those are interchangeable with the non turbo version right?

SR20 vs det
distributor ignition vs coil packs
DET obviously has turbo attached, and so the block has the drain for the oil return.
Injector flow rate
Compression ratio
stock cam duration ?
Just about anything you can put on the DET you can put on your DE, with the exception of upgraded coils, unless you go to a det harness, and ecu.

um i think this is my old car. if so i highly recomend not putting a turbo on it has over heated more than hell itself. not to burst your bubble or anything just friendly advice. if it had 180sx tails and a green monster vinyl sticker on the hood then dont do it.

metal mulisha stickers all over the place? when i got a hold of it the kid had started taking them off but left the one on the firewall and a solid black one on the passenger side.
and youre not bursting my bubble lol. if i was going to turbo it out, i was more than likely just going to save the money and get the whole sr20det from Enjuku and then just sell this one. Like z28 said, the compression ratio is lower, thus better for boost. but of course you guys know this lol

My stock one is fun lol If what is going on right now is indeed true, ill just keep this one as a DD for now and save up the money and get something else to drive while I sell this one and buy either another one or a turbo'd one.
I'll be done with school next semester so that could actually work out in my favor
altho i have yet to have a single problem with this one and i drive the shit out of it...
