evo 8 motor in a rs/gs
i found this on dsmtalk.com i have never seen this before!!!
I have herd it all from the GSX and GST owners that you cannot swap a 4g63 into a RS or GS 2nd gen without spending alot of money.
Answer: WRONG
Truth: The 4g63 Evo 8 motor will boltup to the RS and GS motormounts with little to no modifications. You need a 420a transmission with a swapped out bellhousing. Aftermarket motor mounts to handle the torque and abuse that the 4g63 evo motor will throw at it. You are going to need a Stand alone ecu or GST ecu with a piggy back. Here are some pictures if you need any more information email me at John_Maygard@admworld.com I will talk to my friend in Taiwan that has been doing this swap for 2 years now and has done over 40 RS and GS 2nd gen to evo 8 swaps. The RS and GS is the only model eclipse you can drop the Evo 8 engine into without major modifications, Iam talking Long block not just the block or head. The Evo 8 Motor also sits on the left side of the engine bay in which the 420a also shares the same position for IC and pipings also. ENJOY!!!

You sure Jerry im pretty sure it can be done. only to 420a eclipses. I dont know about others but when i think of 4g63 i think of eclipse/talon/dsm not evo. evo i think of evo motor. even though its a newer version i still think one is not the same, speaking of the title from that tuners post that is. also i think a 3g eclipse tranny will bolt up if not mistaken too couple of people in ny have the evo motor in a galant.

It can.
I'll explain. The 2g 420a eclipse and the 2g spyder 4g64 motors both share the same motormount locations from what I understand. The 3g eclipse rs/gs has the 4g64 in it as well which mounts the same exact way. An Evo motor has already been dropped into a 3g eclipse before and even bolts straight up to the transmission bell housing. With that information there is no reason as to why you can not drop an Evo motor into a 2gnt eclipse.

This is a project that we have discussed over a year ago so if it was possible then it is possible now as proven by our main poster.-Dario

i thought the evo 8 and 9 blocks were different because of the mivec head?
p.s. mivec is gay anyway...fastest evo's are all 8's

and now introducing my newest toy...
