Harmonic Balancer...bad news/ good news

so last night i was driving & it starts raining and im dodging all puddles in sight as im sure most of you do. Suddenly i hit a large puddle, and all of a sudden i start hearing a rubber flapping noise from my engine. I pull over to discover the belt thats on my Harmonic Balancer (on cranckshaft) is off...so i stayed from 9 to almost 12 trying to get it back on with my jack a socket wrench kit and a few other things...didnt work. Went back today with some more tools and i made some progress until i see this one pulley that had seperated from the inner rubber dampner. I push it to the shop 5 blocks down the road and 464 dollars later everything is all good. While there i sparked up a conversation about crankwalk and they were telling me in all 12 years of fixing cars, theyve never heard anything about it somewhat mocking me. So they decide to check some database they had about my cars specific troubles and found nothing on crankwalk even tho there were about 10 pages of other things. So he said shyt why not take a look at it and see if theres any signs of wear or irregular movement...and they let me stand there and watch....nothing crank looked great..since the timing belt was now inspectable...i kno it was changed in 04 (belt is labeled). And he just kept going...He checked out my motor mounts they are still in decent shape. no leaks from tranny or oil...all that good came with it, but this stupid balancer is gonna put me back another 2 or three weeks on my turbo....

OLd Harmonic Balancer.....look at the top part that was eaten away by the frame of my car....you can kinda see the gap where inner rubber seperates, that let it move left and right, rubbing on my frame...

Ha sounds like what happened to me a couple months back.
I kept wondering why my altenator belt kept falling off, no matter how tight I tightened it up. Turned out the crank pulley had seperated, had to get another pulley,(harmonic balancer) luckily Aaron had one laying around.

I drove thru 3 feet grass and 2 feet deep water being stupid and Id say thats probably why mines messed up. They get old, water and heat seperates the rubber.
