Update on my progesss.

How important is it to get the head resurfaced
when replacing the head gasket?? the car overheated for about 10 min
but the coolant temp never went above 247, I don't know how high the
temp goes before the head can warp, I will be using a felpro gasket and
ARP studs, not getting the head milled will help me out a whole lot
with money and time because this is my only transportation to work.

My Car Over heated for a month straight and atleast to the point where on a couple of occasions it wouldnt restart for an hour. But after finally figuring out it was the headgasket I replaced it and everything was perfect and the car pulled harder then ever....So I guess its just a roll of a dice, So if funds permit do it right the first time.

yea from what I here it seems to be a game of chance, I might have the means to get it done so I'll shoot for getting it done. JR insisted I get the head machined.
what machine shops around here are trusted to do it right and what does it normally run. I'm going to start tearing into her in the morning.

take the head to a machine shop and check if its indeed warped , if is not then just put a new gasket.

I agree with Jr 100% No need to do it twice especially if your funds are limited.

how much of the turbo do i need to disconnect to get the manifold off of the head? I got the front water line and top oil line off, do i need to disconnect the oil drain and downpipe so the manifold will clear the studs on the head?

Take the whole turbo off.Dont run the risk of bending a 18 year old return and feed line and getting a leak when its all said and done.Thats just the way i have always done it since its easier to me.

This is the mess I was left with, Oil/Water on everything.

Now:

Looks like their might be some rain headed my way. this is bullshit, it does not rain all week and so far it has rained on both days I have tried to work on the car. at least at the end of the day I will have the piece and mind of a new headgasket and ARP headstuds

I'm at slowy's house. he's on mlk near the interstate. hopefully he will be able to help when he gets home but right now it keeps sprinkling on and off so it's hard to get crank'n on it. I might be able to get the head off today but the machine shop will probally be closed so nothing will get done after i get the head off. were the help will come in handy is putting everything back together but I don't know how long the head will be in the shop. I'll pm you my number so I can give you direction and let you know when I might need help getting it all back together, it's appriciated.

Had to pack it up for the night, only had a few hours to work on it today due to shitty rain. you know you love a car when your sad to leave it somewhere
If im lucky the head will be flat when I get it checked and I could have it back on tomorrow.
