    When I bought my one owner 90 talon awd. The first few maintaince mods included..

    All new upper and lower engine gaskets and seals
    ARP head studs and Mitsu 3layer HG
    Yanked both Balance Shafts out
    New T-belt and tensionior

    I reccomend pulling the BS out. I noticed the engine reved faster among a few other things.

    you can't do this because one of the balance shafts will still spin because it on the oil pump and that runs off your timing belt like boosted dsm said they sell balance shaft eliminator kits or you can do it youself and make your own kit very simple to make don't cut coners you will end up with a blown motor.

    And I thought that AWD is to have traction.
