New to Tampa

Hey all, I just moved here. I love cars, and wrenching. I have done a bunch of FWD nissan swaps, and lots of wiring in my time. I just picked out a 89 Civic Si from a member on here that I will be using for STS (SCCA SoloII). Any autocross-heads in this forum?

Hit me up if you want help with any project. I love all makes and models, and love working on any kind of project. I'm not going to charge you, either... unless we find that I end up doing all the work.

I have helped with a 4a-ge 20v swap into a 1970 Lotus Europa S2. I love exotic hybrids!

Luke

welcome to TR

STS is a great class for that Civic they ruled at Dixie National. On the East Coast John Morgan runs STS with his Saturn and puts down great times.

I run in SML with my 91 Civic Hatch, I've been running for 4 years now and the addiction has not stopped and neither has the upgrades to my car I run with SCCA and BMW for most of my events. I have run with FAST and PCA and they are both great clubs as well.

Check out the Autox forum for events and locations. FL has a great community for autcross.

I went for the 89 Si on purpose. 2150 lbs from the factory, lightest EF Si. I won't have the cash to, but in full national level STS trim I have heard of weights as low as 1950.

Plus, we cannot deny that an STS prepped car is VERY VERY fun to drive. Much more fun than a Honda with drop springs and the same money put into motor.

My setup will basically be Koni Sports / GCs (450/550), ST rear sway, hawk HPS front pads, rebuilt brakes, polyurethane engine mounts/suspension bushings and Bridgestone RE01Rs on a light 15. Oh, and a 4 pnt snap in Corbeau harness on the drivers side.

you'll need 16 rims for the Bridgestone RE01Rs last I heard they do not come in 15 inch

i love the Koni with my Ground Controls (600/650)

I basically have the same set up as you are going for minus the 4 point harness and other equipment that is stock but on the car. a friend of mine, Charlie, showed me how to adjust my seat so I won't move when I go around the course. So much nicer on my back.

hope to see you out.

when you are ready for a corner weight and balance check out Cars & Concepts or Vortex Motorsports. I love what C&C did with my hatch.

Are you running Sports on those rates? I've always heard that the OTS sports have a hard time with a spring over 500 lb/in. I know the SPSS3s are good for like a 1200 lb spring tho... Expensive.

Koni yellows with no problems so far. I spoke directly with Ground Control when I upgraded the spring rate.
