How much is my '88 Rx-7 worth?
I've got a mint condition 1988 Rx-7 GXL. Blue, mint condition. No scratches, no dents. It looks like it's never seen a drop of water. ~78,000 miles, 5 speed, all stock parts, no mods. Interior is immaculate. How much is it worth if I wanted to sell it to somebody?

It looks like it's never seen a drop of water. ~78,000 miles, 5 speed, all stock parts, no mods. Interior is immaculate. How much is it worth if I wanted to sell it to somebody?
Pros
1. GXL - Power everything +1
2. OEM - No replacement parts or manufactured parts. +1
3. Interior - 10/10. Very hard to find. If it's all original and 10/10 this could be a plus. If it's a 2+2 even better
4. 78k miles is pretty low for a 88. Hopefully the clutch has been replaced within the last few years.
Cons:
1. 90% Sure it has a S1FC 13b engine in it. Which means it only has around 150hp at the crank IIRC.
2. 5spd lowers the value of the vehicle. Not really a bad thing being that most people today want one with a manual. So this won't effect you.
3. 78k without any receipts to prove you did any maintenance to the engine is not a good thing.
Some questions I would ask if I was buying.
1. Has the water pump been replaced ?
2. Has the oil pump been replaced ?
3. Has the fuel pump been replaced ?
4. Does it have A/C and heat ?
5. Have you flushed the brake system?
6. Have you flushed the coolant and replaced it with factory OEM coolant?
7. Do you have any receipts for anything and everything you claim has been done to the vehicle
8. Has the car been in any accidents in it's past that you know of and with you?
9. When was the last time you did a compression test? Can we do one now?
Now being that it's a 88 S1FC13B and it was in immaculate condition with a new clutch, A/C working, yadda yadda yadda and in pristine condition and you were asking $3000 dollars the most I would offer you would be $2000.00 dollars. It's too old and has the old style engine in it. S1FC's were also prone to a lot of cold solder problems especially in GXL models. Not saying yours has those problems, but $3000 is a lot IMO. Put your offer high. More than what you want for it and if some one talks you down(low balls you) and it's near what you were asking take the offer..
Some one once told me he told a guy " I'm not here to buy your heart, I'm here to buy the car" We put high value into our cars that we take good care of and put a lot of blood sweat and tears into. So try not asking to high of a price. If you aren't desperate to sell then put a high price on it and see what happens.Last edited by CoRDiTe; 12-27-2011 at 01:39 PM.

If its in nice condition you could get like 4g's on the high end if you wait for the right buyer.

The prices for all rx7's are going down, but a clean 2nd gen na's go for 4k on rx7club.com constantly.

I'm on that site all the time and even though they list it for 4k not all of them sell for 4k. Some markets 4k is a decent price while other markets including in FL aren't so high. Most RX-7's in cali sell almost double what they sell for in Florida. Smaller market draws smaller amounts of money and less purchasers and 1st gens have been going up in prices. 2nd gens and 3rd gens don't go for what they did years ago. Verts and Turbo II's still hold some value though. 3rd gens with LS swaps go for a pretty penny too. Most FC's I see now are hack jobs. It bothers me to see Hack job RX-7's. Especially when they jack up a perfectly good AE. Hate that the most.

I thought 86-88 were S4's and 89-91 were S5's?

actually if anything a rx4 13b would be a series 1 13b.

if you havent been in a small plane its worst, cause your eyes and brain say we are moving and your body says oh no we are not. eyes and brain go asshole we are moving, cant you see? body says fuck you we are not moving at all. so they fight and fight and eventualy your body says, you know what fuck you brain, see if you can stop this!! then you throw up.

-1 <--- No +
S1 13B is a series 1 13b which came with like a 140hp or something. the S2 13B which came in the 89-92'S Came with 160hp. They were different specs..
I was always told to refer to them since I was little. It could be wrong, but that's how I was taught since I've been working on those two engines.
Yes I understand the 86-88 are S4 models and the 89-92 are S5 models, but for the Engines I was always told one was a S1 and the other was a S2 since they both came in a 2nd gen.
