Default RX7 VS Miata

What are the ups and downs of owning each of these cars?

rx7 = rotary big up
miata = piston big down

j/k

from what i seen the miata engine is a good engine to boost. while if you try to boost a n/a rotary its a long process and tons of fab work to be done. both are great handling cars.

The Miata's BP engine is pretty tough, but some of the other driveline components are weak. A popular swap for high hp miatas is the TII tranny and diff. Otherwise, the miata will be much more reliable than any rotary. You just have to worry about narrow-minded people calling you gay.

Owning both, the Miata at times is more fun to drive. That being said, the Miata quickly fades in my mind when I hit boost in the RX-7. I plan on boosting the Miata pretty soon, and ridden in my buddy's turbo Miata, it makes a HELL of a difference! If you're looking for an inexpensive awesome handling car that's considerably cheap to mod, then go for the Miata.

BTW, not all Miatas look gay

Default Ohh yea!!

You can have the best of both worlds! Buy a miata and put a turbo 2 or a 3rd gen motor in it, They make install kits fo the car and from what i have heard it is just flat out sick!!!!

More reliable?, really depends if the person actually takes car of their 7, you wouldn't believe how many people don't even know how to adjust their tps/or even know what it does. And yeah people would call you gay if you drove a miata, but if it had a halfbridge 13bt with a BNR stage3 drifting all over their face then I think they'd picture miatas differently from there after.

Dam muddy, you got some sick miatas. You ever think about dropping an 13b re in there?

No way! I don't know shit about rotaries, except they blow up if you don't take care of them properly. If I were to do a rotary swap, it would be into a spitfire. Talk about badass!

The blue one, a 10AE, is for sale and hopefully will be gone by the end of the month.

The gray one just hit 170 rwhp on the dyno and I hope to get 200 by the end of the year.

who cares if they pop, a half bridge port with a bnr stage 3 turbo and you'd have full spool by 3800 and about 400rwhp with about 15psi. Of course the life expectency of a bridge is 50k or so, which is plenty for me. I was thinking about putting a 13bt into a 90 929 to make the ultimate jdm luce. A 4door rwd rotary powered mazda,mmmmmmmmmmmm
