09 Honda Element...Custom intake and exhaust
We designed and built a custom intake for this Elelment to get lots of cold air without running the filter down low. The vehicle gets used for true all purpose use , we also built a free flowing exhaust that remains super quiet.
Here's some pics...

We built a 3.5" hose routing from the bumper to a aluminum plate we built that bolts to the innner fender well.

Here you can see the intake behind the bumper

To block the heat from the induction of the filter a carbon fibre shield is used.

We didn't dyno before and after but it sure did feel much quicker afterwards.www.lhtperformance.net.

Air Flow
Is the cold air directed from the hole in the bumper trapped by the cover over the air filter?

Correct, it fills thefilter with cold air, the carbon shield helps keep it around the filter. It works very well, better than we expected.
